A single drop of rain fell from the night, not knowing that it was being tracked on its way down. Lightning splintered the sky as the raindrop continued to fall, its movements unable to hide itself from the eyes trained upon it. As it neared the ground a hand shot out and caught the drop, it lay there immobile for the moment before the fist was clenched and punched in the air.

Saturnus Aurelio bared his teeth to his comrades, his coven, as he punched his clenched hand in the ominous dark sky. He looked upon them all; all were equipped for the looming battle. They stood silent, their armour still and swords locked by their sides. Rain started to fall over the grassy plains and thunder roared over the land. He looked back over his shoulder to their castle, its grounds surrounded by immense walls, Saturnus turned back to his group, the strong team of vampires feared by all and known as the Infernal Darkness.

The battle hardened group checked over their equipment once more, this routine now second nature to them came from several wars back to back with the filth that is the werewolf.

The war banner waved in the night breeze signaling their intent, their readiness for battle. Saturnus looked over the plains and as predicted he saw the wolves spill out of the forest, their fur matted with rain. He had about 30 seconds before they reached his group; so he flicked his attention to his war General Raphael and nodded his head. Raphael sprung to life as he directed the group where to attack, it was 18 wolves to 12, the odds meant nothing, and they had been in worse battles before. He signaled for the ever ready duo of Tuesday and Lady of Sorrow to hit slice them in the middle, while Vampyrikus, Nexroth and Angelblood targeted their left flank, followed up by a right flank attack from Evershine, Storm and Lord Talha.

Saturnus placed his helmet on his head and drew his sword and whispered “attack”, the eight vampires on his mark glided over the field towards the oncoming wolves while the 3 generals stood in a line in front of Saturnus Aurelio who surveyed the battle from a raised platform.

When both sides collided mud splashed up blocking Saturnus’ view. Meanwhile Lady of Sorrow battling two wolves swung her blade through the air connecting with the throat of one of her opponents just as Tuesday leaped in the air over her enemy and dug her sword in his back. The trio of Vampyrikus, Nexroth and Angelblood had five wolves to contend with, they each looked at each other before they maneuvered themselves around the wolves with such agility as to confuse their opponents then piercing each wolf deep in the heart.
The mud subsided and Saturnus saw from the right three powerful wolves launch at him. With naught but the sound of a blade his three generals blocked the oncoming attackers and ensued in the fight. Whilst this was being played out in the back, the trio of Evershine, Storm and Lord Talha teamed up on 2 wolves slicing their necks with ease. At this moment the Pack Leader of the wolves stepped out of the forest lining, his presence ceasing an end to combat, but his pack had been decimated.

Saturnus took of his cape off and started at a run for the leader, he wanted blood, a flawless victory, he wanted the wolf’s head!

The battle lasted no longer than a minute and through the rain Saturnus could be seen stating there, rain pouring of his armour, blood dripping of his sword and the body of the leader at his feet. They had won once again. The Almighty Infernal Darkness claims its ascendency once more, its power thriving on war. Saturnus Aurelio opened his hand, and resting on his palm was a drop of blood. He paused for the moment staring at it before he tilted his hand and let the blood drop fall to the ground. As the blood hit the mud, dissolving in the rain the group lifted up their weapons and cried out a winning battle cry. The Infernal Darkness is a power to behold… so who’s next?
